Magellan Gin, Regularly $27.99 750ml, Special Price $24.99

We're always looking for what we feel to be the best values. Plymouth Gin, which I think is an excellent gin, went up quite a bit in price so I thought it was time to replace it with a better value. I also was looking for something with a unique flavor profile. That's how we came up with Magellan Gin, the only blue gin on the market. We sampled it and really enjoyed its complexity and uniqueness. I think you will too, even if you're not typically a gin drinker (most gins are dominated by the flavor of juniper berries). We're offering it normally for $27.99, which I think is an excellent price, and upping the ante by discounting it to $24.99 as our featured spirit. Enjoy!

“Not your typical gin. Juniper is not the first and defining characteristic but is present. Cardamom, licorice, cubeb, cassia and nutmeg wrap around nutmeg and orange peel, with coriander lingering around the edges also play a role in a complex interplay of flavors. Light body accompanied by the blending of the floral and spicy makes for multilayered gin experience. Nice lingering spicy finish. A very nice, decent gin with a mild and not overwhelming juniper presence balanced by a well-chosen and mixed set of botanicals. A good solid gin with a unique color signature so you can show off your choice.” Chris Carlsson, Spirits Review, 9 out of 10 overall and value/price rating

Distilling Process:

The Master Distiller begins with the fermentation of Capet, a rich wheat grain from the Beauce Valley, and crisp spring water drawn from the Gensac Spring in the Cognac region. The water is naturally filtered through grande champagne limestone and then naturally demineralized for the appropriate soft, crisp and smooth taste.

The wheat and water mash is then triple distilled by hand, sequentially, yielding a smooth, clean neutral spirit prepared for only the finest botanicals and meticulous production methods ahead.

All eleven botanicals (cloves, iris root and flower, juniper berries, cinnamon, cassia, orange peel, coriander, licorice, grains of paradise, cardomom, and nutmeg) are picked at their peak of ripeness and immediately sun dried to ensure preservation at the highest point of flavor. Then, upon market demand, the head of a small artisanal copper pot still is opened and the fresh botanicals, wrapped in a special cloth, are added to the neutral spirit and immediately redistilled together for a fourth time in small batches. During the fourth distillation the Master Distiller, guided by generations of expertise, determines by taste when to select the “heart” of Magellan Gin, the moment when the taste and proof offer the precise balance between the alcohol and the complex flavors. For the Master Distiller, this moment is a refreshing 88 proof. Any gin that is either less than or greater than 88 proof will be discarded. This fresh distillation process truly captures the intricate and complex flavors of the fresh botanicals.

Next, it’s infused with the finest natural Iris root and flower which gives Magellan its crisp taste and beautiful blue color. Magellan Gin’s refreshingly smooth and balanced character is unmatched in the world.
