October Wines of the Month
Martin from Oz Wine!!
Regular$/Tasting$

2024, Spiess, Riesling Trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany
$23.00/$20.00
Weingut Spiess is truly a family run operation. Everything from vineyard management, to harvest, to distribution is
handled by members of the Spiess family. The wine shows subtle floral notes that are complemented through distinctive
flavors on the palate. A masterful expression of dry Rheinhessen Riesling, this wine is wonderfully complex and
satisfying.

2023, Terre de Asorei, “Nai” Albarino, Rias Baixas, Spain
 $21.00/$17.00
Nai e Señora is a tribute to both the origin of Albariño and contemporary women. Galician poets and artists of the first
half of the 20th century referred to "nai", which means “mother” in Galician, as a tribute to working women. On the
nose, this wine has aromatic notes of herbs, dill, bay leaf, balsamic, citrus (grapefruit and lemon), tropical (flat peach),
stone fruit and peach. On the palate, Nai e Señora is fresh, rich, with a sweet point that is reminiscent of citrus and stone
fruit sensations.

2023, Broc Cellars, “Love” White Wine, Berkeley, California
$26.00/$22.00
Aromas of citrus, fresh herbs, and a distinct salinity bring this wine character and soul. Besides being a health-conscious
choice--the end result is ridiculously crushable and an incredibly versatile white to bring to the table, though definitely
an especially nice choice for sushi and sashimi.

2024, Ovum Wines, “Big Salt” White, Newberg, Oregon $25.00/$21.00
BIG SALT is dry, aromatic and zippy. Salty lemon, ginger and aloe vera leap out of the glass. A short skin contact gives the
palate textural complexity, even at a low 12.0% abv. In its youth, Big Salt continues to be Muscat forward, but we find as
it ages Gewurz comes to the forefront, while oceanic citrusy Riesling shines after a year in the bottle. Not that anyone is
aging BIG SALT, but you’ll be rewarded if you do!

2023, Pielihueso, “Naranjo” Orange Wine, Uco Valley, Argentina
$26.00/$22.00
Pielihueso Naranjo is a blend of Torrontés (50%) with co-fermented Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The grapes
maintain contact with their skins for 3 months in stainless steel and concrete tanks while fermentation spontaneously
occurs with native yeast. Beautifully aromatic with rich notes of guava, orange peel, lime and mango. Mouth-watering,
light-to-medium body, medium-to-high acidity.

2023, Domaine de Colette, Beaujolais-Villages, Beaujolais, France
$19.00/$16.00
Domaine de Colette is located in the heart of the Crus du Beaujolais, in the charming village of Lantignié. Husband and
wife Jacky and Evelyne Gauthier run this wonderful estate, with vines that are old that they farm organically. Their yields
are low, and their wines are lovely expressions of Gamay with ripe and sappy flavors. Sourced from 80-year old vines
grown on pink granite soils. Ripe and fresh, this is redolent with aromas of cherry, strawberry, and rose petals with a full-
bodied, fleshy palate. An outstanding value!

2023, Mas de Libian “Bout D’Zan” Cotes du Rhone, Rhone Valley, France
$22.00/$18.00
One third of this co-fermented blend of Grenache and Syrah was matured for nine months in large old barrels; the
remainder in concrete. The nose opens with aromas of cassis, cherries, bergamot, and crushed violets, with suggestions
of lavender and black olives as the wine evolves in the glass. On the palate, the wine is mouthfilling, juicy, and ripe, with
a core of black fruit flavors that echo the nose, and a finish that shows raspberry, cocoa, and minerality.

2022, Josetta Saffirio, Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont, Italy
$32.00/$27.00
Lively garnet red with a very characteristic nose of dried fruit and raspberries. Exceptional balance on the palate, round
tannins and sensations already present on the nose. Wine of important body, perfect pairing for main courses of red or
braised meats and game. Ideal with medium aged cheese.

2022, Johan Vineyards, “Estate” Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
$36.00/$30.00
100% Demeter-certified biodynamic Pinot Noir, grown right along the Willamette Valley's Van Duzer Corridor. The nose
shows savory and tart aromas of raspberry leaf, cranberry and a squeeze of blood orange with a whisper of dried thyme.
On the palate, tart black cherries and spicy chicory root dominate with notes of black tea. This Pinot is a cool climate,
cool customer finishing with turned earth and pine tips along with a concentrated pomegranate pulp at a lively finish.

2022, Tenuta di Carleone, “Il Randagio” Toscana Rosso, Tuscany, Italy
$28.00/$23.00
Tenuta di Carleone’s "Il Randagio" Toscana IGT is a bold and unconventional red, blending Cabernet Franc with Merlot to
create a wine of depth, energy, and personality. The nose is expressive and wild, with notes of dark cherry, blackberry,
and plum, wrapped in layers of leather, herbs, and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and structured, with
firm tannins and bright acidity supporting juicy fruit and earthy complexity.
